AI for Business and Finance in Africa:
Challenges and Innovations

Abstract

This workshop explores the intersection of artificial intelligence with business and financial sectors across Africa, focusing on developing and implementing AI solutions that address unique regional challenges. Through talks and collaborative discussions with industry and academic leaders, participants will investigate cutting-edge AI technologies and culturally aware approaches adapted for African markets. The workshop aims to bridge the gap between theoretical advances and practical implementation while ensuring ethical and equitable AI deployment for diverse African communities.

Call for Papers & Pitches

We invite submissions of original research and applied work addressing the deployment of AI in business and finance across Africa. Accepted submissions will be presented as contributed talks or posters. The best paper will receive an award sponsored by our partners.

Paper Submission Instructions:
Submissions should be an extended abstract with a maximum of 4 pages (excluding references).
We encourage use of our double-column LaTeX template, but single or double column submissions in any format are acceptable.
We accept original work, work currently under review, or previously published work. The workshop is non-archival, so submissions will not preclude future publication.

Camera-Ready Submission: The camera-ready version includes finalizing your paper and preparing a poster (and slides if you received oral acceptance). Navigate to your submission on OpenReview and click "Edit" → "Camera-Ready Submission Stage" for detailed instructions.

Poster Requirements: We are following the Deep Learning Indaba poster guidelines. Posters should be A0 size (84.1 x 118.8 cm) in PORTRAIT format. Authors are responsible for printing their own posters. Please arrive at the workshop venue (Akagera tent) with your poster printed and ready to display by 08:30am.

Oral Presentations: Those accepted for oral presentations should submit their slides via OpenReview for an 8-minute presentation. Please ensure your slides are clear, concise, and follow standard presentation guidelines.

In addition to research submissions, we are excited to launch a Call for Pitches for innovative AI product ideas. Individuals or groups are invited to propose a practical AI solution or startup idea addressing business or financial challenges in Africa.

Selected participants will pitch their ideas during our live Pitch & Feedback Session, receiving direct feedback from real-world investors at Askya Investment Partners. This is a unique opportunity to showcase your vision and connect with potential backers.
